Construction en béton;Contraintes (mécanique);Déformations et contraintes;Béton;Concrete construction;Strains and stresses;Concrete Cracking |
Résumé : |
Sustainability is a major requirement in modern structures and modern construction must sustain satisfactory service over a longer life span. Indeed, it is not rare to specify a life span of 100 years for infrastructure such as bridges. Yet many concrete structures have deteriorated prematurely. Concrete Structures is a complete and a wide-ranging study of stresses and deformations of reinforced and prestressed concrete structures. And now the fourth edition has a new emphasis on desiging for serviceability. It is comprehensively updated and gives two new chapters on the effects of corrosion of reinforcement and on the analysis and design for fatigue. It also now includes seventy-five solved examples and a hundred instructive problems with their answers given at the end of the book. The computer programs, available on the accompanying website, are modified to enable interactive input data preparation. The book is independent of codes of practice, and is especially suitable for practising engineers and graduate students. |

Earthquake resistant design;Génie parasismique;Conception parasismique |
Résumé : |
Developments in Earthquake Engineering have focused on the capacity and response of structures. They often overlook the importance of seismological knowledge to earthquake-proofing of design. This book focuses on the seismological aspects of design - analyzing various types of earthquake and how they affect structures differently.
Contents : New chanllenges in seismic design - Living with earthquakes - Learning from earthquakes - Advances in conception about earthquakes - Tectonic plates and faults - Faults and earthquakes - Earthquakes and ground motions - Ground motions and structures - Advances in seismic design methodologies - Challenges for next code generation of seismic codes. |
